Melbourne Dreams
Melbourne may be lacking an iconic building like some other major cities, but I always find the ever changing skyline as a whole a pleasure to photograph. I had been at this location many times previously and had considered it one that would lend itself to a sunrise rather than a sunset. In the week prior to this image being taken there had been two magnificent sunrises, and on both occasions, I had been unable to get there in enough time to capture the scene. More out of frustration than anything else I headed out one cold winters afternoon, in the faint hope that I would be treated to some decent light. As the sun set, it didn’t appear that the high cloud above would catch the light, so I waited at my spot anyway as I'd wanted to see how this scene would look at the dark sky took over. From nowhere, the clouds started to turn these magnificent shades of pink, yellow and orange and with the light reflecting off of the glass panels in the skyscrapers, a magnificent scene presented itself before me. The beautiful light, showcasing the wonderful city below.
