The mysterious and legendary Hanging Rock dwarfs the small country homestead in the foreground, providing a classic and timeless rural scene.  This is a spot I've wanted to try and capture for a long time and I spent a long time scouting the locations in order to try and find a composition that emphasised the height of the 'rock' and yet also provided a sense of rural Australia to the viewer.  I shot this scene at a number of different focal lengthsand just felt the slightly longer 50mm lense I had brought together all of the elements in a single image.  The soft Autumnal sunset I was treated to over the Easter Weekend of 2018,  beautifully illuminated the western side of the rock as well as providing a rich glow to the paddocks in the foreground.  I'll no doubt return and capture this area again in different lights, but the 'painterly' feeling of this particular image provides an enduring portrait of this mythical place.
