An ad-hoc trip to Point Lonsdale provided some glorious light allowing me to capture this simple yet eye catching scene. As I left my house, I had no particular destination or image in mind and ended up here primarily with the intention of trying to find some abstract sand patterns to photograph. After parking up and heading towards the beach, I noticed how the light from the setting sun was catching the wooden beams under the pier and casting a beautiful golden reflection in the water below. This immediately made me change my plans and after setting my gear up I was just about to take a few test shots when I heard a voice behind me asking if I wouldn’t mind moving for a few minutes. Looking round I saw another photographer with a few other people and, wondering if I'd accidently stepped into someone else’s shot, I realised she was a pet photographer who wanted to take some portraits of a lovely family dog with the pier behind. Obligingly, and secretly hoping I wasn't going to miss my shot, I moved out of the way and luckily for me the light remained and even improved as the sun became lower in the sky.
