Bellarine Horizons
Having moved to the Bellarine Peninsula in 2022, I've enjoyed exploring the many new locations this diverse landscape has to offer. It was at a family lunch at a nearby winery that I had envisaged this particular scene but, as that was in the middle of winter, I know I would have to be patient and wait for the seasons to roll by before I would be able to capture the image as I had seen it in my mind. As Autumn began I made numerous visits to the area to ensure I could capture the leaves at peak colour, having to bide my time as the vines were covered in netting to protect the harvest, but as soon as these were removed I took every opportunity to visit and revisit to allow me the best chance of securing the photograph. This particular afternoon was my fifth attempt, having been thwarted by the light on the previous four, and as the sun sank serenely below the cloud cover and illuminated the vines the soft haze provided a wonderful mellowness to the scene as the peaks of the You Yangs appeared in the distance.
