  • Criss Cross

One of the challenges I enjoy most in photography is trying to simplify the chaotic landscape within woodlands and forests. What pleases me most about this image is how the fallen tree creates such wonderful angles and shapes right through the middle of the scene.  The warm colours in the top are created by the glow from the setting sun, catching the transparent foliage of the tree canopy and this contrasts wonderfully with the dark trunks and the light grass towards the bottom.

This genre of photography can be extremely frustrating at times and, more often than not, the scene I have captured whilst out in the field has lost its appeal by the time I upload them onto the computer for editing but, the occasions when I do manage to find a composition, make up for all the failures.

Every effort has been made to accurately attempt to represent the colours of the original images. However, due to the many differences in computer screens and certain other variations, the images here should only to be taken as a guide.
