Proof that sometimes, hunches pay off. After a day of heavy storms around Melbourne in the summer of 2020, I could see from the radar that their path was taking them in a direction that if I could get behind them in time and the sun made an appearance, I could capture a full rainbow for the first time. A mad, 45 minute dash from my home to Geelong ensued, and sure enough as I approached Western Beach I could see the clouds moving out into the bay and a break in the cloud materialising behind me. I didnt have time to carefully compose an image, but sometimes luck is on your side and the jetty I was on gave a perfect leading line into the centre of the rainbow. Moments later it was gone.
