Happy Faces
On my last evening in the UK during summer 2023, I was taking a nostalgic stroll in the fields surrounding the town of my birth, Luton in Bedfordshire. It was here that as a child we used to walk the family dog and served as a blissful reminder of those carefree days. I took my camera with me, just in case, but had no particular target in mind and was more than happy just being outdoors.
As the evening drew on and I headed back to my accomodation, I noticed these sunflowers but they were behind a very high hedgerow. I was unsuccessful as I frantically searched for an opening in the thick foliage and on the point of giving up, I passed the row of houses that backed onto the field. In the front yard was one of the homeowners and I asked him if he knew of any way to access the area. Without hesitation, he invited me to go through the side of his property and out of his back garden, where I was able to position myself delicately between the nettles and brambles, and capture a few images before the light faded.
