Queenscliff Pier and Lifeboat shed stand out magnificently in the soft evening light.  I had originally intended to simply have the incoming tide as a foreground however, after a wave had receded further than expected, I noticed how the structures were reflecting so perfectly on the wet sand and therefore refined the compostion to ensure all elements were featured.

Whenever I photograph such historic locations I always take a moment to ponder what stories they could tell and I imagine, being at the opening of one of the most treacherous shipping channels in the country, these two would have plenty of tales to recall.
