The setting sun illuminates the rain from an approaching storm in the distance and throws some glorious light on the old jetty pylons at Clifton Springs. As much as I enjoy the process of scouting new locations and making original compositions, there are some occasions when the light is so good and yet so fleeting you need to head somewhere close and familiar. This was the case on a particularly stormy day around the Bellarine Peninsula in late 2022. I could see there was huge potential for some great conditions but knew there would be a small window to be able to capture anything of note. I had to decide if I should drive around and look for something "original", or head to a location that has been photographed thousands of times but one I knew would work with what was on offer. I chose the latter and got to Clifton Springs with enough time to set up my gear and capture a very atmospheric image before the incoming rain took hold.
